Here are several thing you should consider before joining any PTC sites:
1. Check the PTC Scam lists first
Check wether the site you are going to join is listed in PTC Scam list. Unfortunately, the list like this will easily be oudated, because more and more PTC website grows and disappears without trace after a short time. If the site doesn't listed in the list, this doesn't mean the site is good. Here's example of PTC scam list available on the net.

2. Check their offerings and commissions
One key thing to remember is this: If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is too good to be true. Be careful of sites that offer huge commissions and make ridiculous claims. If the offer huge amount per click or referral, the you should be wary. Industry standard Paid To Click is about $0.01 - $0.02 per click. If they offer more than this, be careful. How could the survive in the long run? Simply, sites that offer huge commisions just want to attract new user and then disappear.
Also check the payout scheme. If they are offering huge payout limit, that is impossible, usually they are scams. How could you reached that huge limit? It may take you years. Standard industry offers $10 payout limit or less.
3. Check their support systems
Fact is, scammers don’t want you to know who they are. A forum, a help desk, a phone number, contact, or address. Can you contact them when you need to? This is important.
4. Check their website looks
Do not judge the book, by its cover. But, sometimes the websites looks can gives you a clue on how serious the owner of the site. Some PTC websites created using "general bux clone script", and have my bugs in it. Sometimes it indicates they are not professional. This kind of sites often created fast and disappear fast. But don't get deceived by the appearance of the company's website. Websites of scam companies are sometimes much attractive than legitimate companies.
5. Check other people experiences
Always check for testimonials! Browse forum, ask people, etc. You can also enter keyword "sitename scam" or "sitename problem" to see wether other people have some bad experiences with the site. Be careful to any fake testimonial. Some people write boastful testimonial, they just want you to be their referral.
6. Check the changing in service
Before you join any site, look for their FAQ (Frequently ASked Questions) or TOS (Term of Services). Read carefully.
Some scam PTC sites usually looks good at the beginning. After you joined, maybe you find there's nothing wrong with it. But if you experience changing in service, eq. they cannot be contacted anymore, they change TOS, for example the payout limit, there is delay in payment, or something like that. If you happen to experience this, be cautious, that may be the signal of scam site becoming.
7. Check for sustainability
PTC sites that works well always operates on continuity basis. It will be safer to join PTC sites that was established several years ago that nwely established ones. You can also check the company's track record better than the new one.
